4Ocean

08 May 2018

Hello!

Today I wanted to write a little post about the company 4Ocean. If you watch my instagram stories, you may have seen me talk a little about them a few weeks ago, but I wanted to write about it to be able to tell you a little bit more, and a bit more coherently.

So, 4Ocean are a Florida, USA based company who's entire premise is based on cleaning the ocean. It was started by two guys who noticed that there was a devastating amount of rubbish in the ocean and decided to do something about it. They sell bracelets; their generic, blue "4Ocean" bracelet as well as a limited edition monthly bracelet for a variety of different causes. They do both coastal and offshore clean ups. The coastal clean ups are to prevent any rubbish from entering the ocean in the first place, and the offshore cleanups removed any rubbish that's already in the ocean.

They came to my attention because of a Facebook ad (so, Facebook ads definitely work!) and I was completely taken in, and I wanted to get involved. The bracelets cost 20$ plus 5$ shipping (which is roughly £19.37 in total based on my bank statement), and the money goes towards the costs of employees and equipment for removing the rubbish. Each bracelet sold represents 1lb of rubbish being removed and arrives in it's own little pouch, with a thank you card explaining the work that the company do, a 4Ocean sticker, and another sticker of a 1lb weight to represent the 1lb being removed. I'm into it.

So. That's all well and good but you're basically spending £14 on a bracelet. Why?

I know, and normally I wouldn't spend such an absurd amount on something so small, but I really believe in this cause, and its something that I want to get involved in. I'm trying my hardest to clamp down on the amount of plastic that I'm using, and making sure that any toiletries that I buy do not contain things such as microbeads. I recycle where I possibly can (I got so excited over getting a recycling bin at work, it was so overdue!) and I really want to get involved in a coastal clean up sometime soon. I don't live near a beach at the moment but it is something that's in my mind that I really want to get involved in.

I mentioned previously that every month, the company support a new cause with a new bracelet, and after the pictures were taken I bought a new bracelet for Earth Day - The Earth Day Network, who have a goal of planting one tree for every person on earth by 2020 in an attempt to combat global warming. Previous campaigns include; coral reefs and polar bears.

If you'd like to get involved and buy a bracelet for yourself, you can over at 4ocean.com and please let me know if you do choose to get involved!

I promise that this is not a sponsored post, I just really love the concept and what the company do and I wanted to share the word.

I hope you're having a great day and until next time, be excellent to each other.

  2. Great cause! I will also contribute to this cause. I provide masters dissertation proposal help to the international students so I earn a handsome amount and can save enough money to buy this bracelet for me and my sister. We both love to be a part of such social causes. Recently we participated in a plantation drive and we planted more than 50 trees with a social activist group. It was also an amazing and satisfying experience.

  3. I've been watching your stories on Instagram for the last two months, and I saw you a few weeks ago talking about 4Ocean. I'm glad you decided to write a detailed post about 4Ocean here, and I'm wondering if it would be nice if the company could offer its services to clean up all the state beaches, not just Florida.
