Why I Love... Hannah

13 January 2018

Hello!

Sorry I didn't have a Saturday post last week, I've been stressing out quite a bit over planning my travels next month (a blog post will come soon!). I thought that today I could have something nice and easy to read, and so here's my next "Why I Love..." in the series. Let me introduce to you my friend, hannah, aka, hxanou. And one half of Dayvelle.

hannah has been one of my best friends since we met online in 2011, and then met up for the first time in London in April 2012.
In that time, we've travelled to stay at each other's houses, and we were mistaken for sisters when we went to Blackpool! We've joked around that we were going to fly to South Korea just to go and see Big Bang, and we've taken like 100,000,000,000 selfies together. We have stories about each other, and so many inside jokes. We have so many memories and each one makes me smile. I trust her with everything. I can tell her anything, and I know that she won't judge me for it. She has my back, and I have hers.

We share a lot of similar interests (and a few vastly different ones) but that's what makes us best friends, and I'm so grateful that I have her in my life. In fact, hannah is the person that introduced me to blogging and encouraged me to start my blog in 2014. I wouldn't be typing any of this out if it hadn't been for her. She was always there for me whenever I needed a helping hand to understand blogging, and she continues to do so to this day. She taught me about DA and about what hashtags to use and when I should use them, she taught me about scheduling posts... She taught me everything I needed to know about how to set up a blog, and she's one of my administrators for this account in case I ever need a bit of support trying to work something out. (I'm sure she sneaks a few previews of my posts as well, so hello hannah, if you're up to that ;))

I've always been mildly envious of her fashion sense, because mine has always just been "does this fit? okay." combined with a lot of band and youtuber merch, but over the years of watching her style outfits, I've seen my own fashion sense blossom, and now I have a more mature look. (What would I be wearing if I hadn't met her? I dread to think!) I really owe all of that to her. And I'm so happy that she's had so many incredible oppotunities finally land at her door - like this post where she collabed with New Look! If you'd have told either of us back in 2013 that that was going to happen, while we were taking selfies in the New Look mirrors, we'd have called you crazy!

To touch on sometimes mildly serious for a second, another thing that she's taught me a lot about is invisible illnesses.

I hate to admit it, but when I was younger, I was one of those people with a preconcieved idea that you can't be disabled unless you had a wheelchair, and I used to get irritated when I saw people park in disabled spots and then walk. I really hate myself for it. However, through being friends with hannah, and through reading tweets on my timeline from Spoonie bloggers, my eyes have really been opened up, and now, while I may not 100% understand everything, I like to think I'm a lot wiser, and understanding. If I hear a friend or a family member making an ableist comment about something, I try to speak up. When I'm at work, I try to make sure I'm doing everything I can to help in whatever way I can. That preconcieved notion I once held has disappeared, and I completely thank hannah for that. (And hannah, every post you write about regarding your disability is one more post that helps me to understand, and I love reading them.)

Basically, hannah is such a huge part of my life, and I can't quite believe that we're going into our 7th year of friendship this year, because that's crazy! I love you a lot and I'm so glad that you're one of my best friends. I'm also so glad to see you so happy <3

Okay. So if you want to read some other posts I've written like this, here is my post about why I love... Saph and here is why I love... Jasmine. I'll see you all again next week!

Until next time, be excellent to each other.
