My French Travel Plans.

23 January 2018

Hello!

So, as I'm sure you all know, I'M GOING TO FRANCE NEXT MONTH! I'm so excited about it because I've never been to France before, plus, this is my first time travelling alone in a foreign country, which is so nervewracking. But I really am so excited about it, and I just can't 100% believe that it's something that's happening to me! I never imagined that I'd have the guts to go solo travelling, especially considering how bad my anxiety and depression had been over the last few years.

So. Where am I gonna be travelling to?

My first flight out will be to Grenoble, where I'll hopefully be able to have a quick catch up and something to eat with Joanne, before I get my first train to Toulouse. (I say first train, there's going to be around 3.) Where I'm planning to stay for a few days, and hopefully spend a day or so in Carcasonne, because it looks super pretty!

After Toulouse, I'm going to get the train to Marseille, where I'm only going to be spending one day (because I wanted extra days in Paris so when I was initially planning out my trip, I had to sacrafice one of the cities to have less days in order to give myself that extra Paris day. I'm sorry, Marseille.) I won't have too long in the city really, so I'm going to try and see how much I can sightsee before my next train to Menton.

I'll have a few days there, and a few hours in Nice before embarking on another train to Lyon, where I'll meet Joanne and we'll head back to Grenoble, and then back to Lyon again. This will give us a better chance to have a catch up once again, after we lived together for around 9 months from 2016 to 2017 at university. And, it's going to give me a chance to see her city. Which I'm really excited about! While we're here, I'm really hoping we'll have a chance to go snowboarding (and skiing) for a little while, because I've only snowboarded on the indoor slope in the centre I work in.

I'll then say goodbye again to Joanne (:() to travel to Paris. As I've never been to France before, Paris was a must see for me, and that's why I wanted to give myself an extra day. While I'm here, I really want to take a trip to see the Chateau de Versailles, because I've been desperate to go there for close to 14 years, after the "Girl in the Fireplace" episode of Doctor Who. Little me would be so excited if she knew!

As a little bonus, when I travel back to the UK again, I'm going to stop in and see Saph, so we can have a catch up and I can finally meet little Charlie! Auntie Gail is super excited to meet him!

In total, I'm going to be travelling france for 12 days, and then I'll probably be with Saph for another 2, so I'm going to be away for two weeks. Am I going to be exhausted? Most definitely. Am I excited? You've no idea just how excited I am!

I will, of course, be writing little blog posts about the places that I visit, and I'm hoping that I'll have a few posts scheduled for while I'm away to give me less stress on my travels, but I apologise in advance if that's not possible.

So. My trains are booked, my interrail ticket and passport are in a safe place. I better get back to practicing my French on Duolingo again! I might even try to get another post written entirely in French before I set off...

Until next time, be excellent to each other.
