Why I Love... Jasmine

28 October 2017

Hello!

You might remember a few months ago I wrote a post titled 'Why I Love... Saph' and I said that it was a new series I was looking to do. I also said that it was something I wasn't going to be doing regularly so that once a post came out, it would be a nice surprise for whoever the subject was. Well, now's the time for the next in the series, and that person is the wonderful Jasmine, aka Kkochsongi.

The first conversation I remember having with Jasmine on twitter was when I congratulated her on her engagement, and from there, we somehow became really close friends. Jasmine has helped me through a lot, and she's always there to listen whenever I have a problem in my life. And she knows that I'm always going to be there for her, too. She supports me when I need to make a difficult decision, and talks me out of doing stupid things (well, most of the time, anyway...) She's a good soul, and I'm so grateful for having her in my life.

She's also crazy, like, she's crazy! But it's a good crazy. It usually starts off with a little joke and somehow it escalates into a 'what if' scenario situation about the funniest of things! I remember when she was pregnant with Rinoa, and she was craving KFC; 'AND IT EAT IT ANGRILY' I wish I had the screenshot to hand because I couldn't stop laughing at it, and it really made my day! I hope it appears on my timehop again soon so I can relive it!

I love going up to visit her, because she and Stuart create a really home-y environment. I've already talked in a previous post about how she inspired me to want to cook a lot more, because she's a really great cook! But she also seems to have things cool, calm and collected. I know she's probably going to read this and laugh like 'HA you're so wrong, Gail!' but Jasmine, you just seem to know exactly what you're doing, and it's really inspiring to me. Sure, things go wrong sometimes, but you problem solve them and they turn out okay in the end. I really admire that.

She also really loves video games, and it's possible that she's one of the reasons I'm wanting to get into gaming more. I used to love playing my PS2 when I was younger, and it still works now, so, I'm starting to get into playing Spyro but I'm wanting to get myself a PS4 so I can play some of the Batman Arkham series of games, play with friends and generally just see where that takes me. I don't play all that often, in fact I mostly just use my PS2 to watch DVDs over and over again (ahem, Point Break, ahem), but I like watching Jasmine and Stuart playing Overwatch, which they seem to play a lot whenever I come by!

Then there's her language skills! You might be thinking that 'kkochsongi' is a really strange blog name, but it's a form of rominisation for Korean! Ma gal might not be fluent in Korean, but goddamn she knows a lot more than me! The fact she was dedicated enough to learn as much Korean as she has is incredible to me - and you all know I'm a huge advocate for the need to learn a second language, but speaking from experience, Asian languages are really difficult to grasp. Well done gal!

I'm getting really off topic now, so I'll round up. Jasmine, you're one of my best friends, and I'm really lucky I have you in my life. Thank you for always having my back, and for making me laugh when I need to be picked up. You're like family to me and I wish I was able to drop by and visit you lot more often. Thank you for everything you've done for me, from making meals when I drop by, for our 'rants' and for making me smile. You're one of the people that I can go a period of time not talking to, but as soon as we do talk again, it's like we never stopped. Thank you. You're wonderful.

That's it for this post! Keep an eye out for one again in the future, who knows when it'll be!

Until next time, be excellent to each other.
